Meet The Karen Paola James

Beauty has always been part of my story.

As a first-generation American with Croatian roots, I was raised in a home grounded in hard work, faith, family, and a deep appreciation for the beauty industry. Both of my parents came from Croatia, and from a young age I worked alongside my mother—my first mentor and greatest inspiration. She showed me that this work is not just about appearance, but about connection, care, and helping people feel seen and confident in who they are.

After completing cosmetology school, I began my professional journey as a Redken Color Specialist, where I refined my craft in color theory, design cutting, and texture cutting. Over time, I developed a signature approach focused on natural movement, lived-in beauty, and enhancing each person’s individuality.

As my career evolved, so did my passion for education. I’ve always believed in having the heart of a teacher—sharing knowledge, encouraging growth, and helping others step into confidence both behind the chair and within themselves.

Creating KP James Salon was never just about opening a business. It was about building a space rooted in love, education, professionalism, creativity, and community—a place where artists feel inspired, clients feel genuinely cared for, and everyone who walks through our doors feels valued.

At the core of everything I do is a belief that true beauty begins within. In a world that often encourages comparison, I believe we are called to embrace who God created us to be and walk confidently in that purpose.
